Edmundite Liturgical Music Scholarship
The Edmundite Liturgical Music Scholarship is an award reserved for students admitted to Saint Michael’s College with musical talent that wish to become an integral part of the liturgical music ministry program. Interested students are encouraged to apply for the scholarship by submitting a short (3-5 minute) video of a piece of their choice. This will include but is not limited to, SATB singers, guitarists, reed and brass, bassists, keyboardists, drummers, and other instrumentalists. The Director of Liturgical Music will ask a select group of students to audition in person, during which they will be evaluated in 3 main areas: one prepared piece, sight reading and ensemble playing. The Director of Liturgical Music will then select students for the scholarship based on their musical ability in a Liturgical context.
The Edmundite Liturgical Music Scholarship is worth up to $2,000 and can be renewed each year for a maximum of four years.
For the scholarship to renew:
- Student(s) must apply and/or meet with the Director of Liturgical Music annually.
- Student(s) must be involved in Liturgical Music at Saint Michael’s, and must be present at least 12 of the 14 Liturgical performances with their respective rehearsal times for each semester.
Scholarship dollars for selected recipients are awarded in addition to previously-awarded Saint Michael’s grants and scholarships. However, the scholarship award cannot exceed the cost of attendance. The amount awarded will be at the discretion of the Director of Liturgical Music and the Director of Campus Ministry, based on the evaluative criteria established in the audition process.
Deadline: The deadline to apply for the scholarship is March 15, 2024.
